Lecture Extra Academy: Eliane Esther Bots
Extra Academy is an alliance between Sint Lucas Antwerpen, Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, Royal Conservatoire Antwerpen and Stadsform, and is curated by Nico Dockx, Clara van den Broek, Helen Mauli Dowling and Caroline Thaler.
We are excited to welcome Eliane Esther Bots to the next Extra Academy event on Thursday, March 19 at 7pm at Stadsform. Bots is a filmmaker, visual artist, and lecturer whose work is rooted in non-fiction filmmaking and expands into audio, performance, and publishing. Her practice explores how people narrate themselves, especially after disruptive or life-changing events, and what responsibilities arise for those who listen. In her interactive presentation, Bots will focus on the role of listening in non-fiction filmmaking and the ethics of working with stories that are entrusted to us. The presentation centres on her recently completed artist’s book The Daughters, The Interpreters and The Family, which combines transcriptions, poems, dreams, paintings, and drawings.
