Unmapping the World (lecture)
26/02 - 19:00
Campus Sint Lucas, polyvalente zaal
Annelys de Vet (NL, 1974) is a Belgium based designer, initiator and curator. Since 2009 she heads the Design department of the Sandberg Instituut Amsterdam (Masters Rietveld Academie). DEVET’s work explores the role of design in relation to the public and political discourse. She published a series of copyright-free ‘Subjective atlases’ that map countries from a human perspective.
In her lecture, De Vet will discuss ‘UNMAPPING THE WORLD’, an exploration into the field of reactive map-making practices. It aims to counterpose the apparent neutrality of professional cartography through contemporary engaged mapping projects and wants to present the act of unmapping as a poetic form of resistance.
